For Roland, hunting has never just been a job – it’s a lifelong passion and a deeply rooted way of life. Growing up in the rugged African bushveld, his love for the outdoors and hunting began at a very young age. About Stirling Safaris

Stirling Safaris is very much a family affair. Roland’s wife is a key part of the administration team, working closely behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Together, they are raising two beautiful boys, little PHs in training – happiest when outdoors, curious about wildlife, and eager to follow in their dad’s footsteps.
We take pride in offering our clients a world-class, traditional African hunting experience – one built on ethical practices, fair chase, high-quality trophy game, and personalized, professional guidance.
Our team of experienced trackers, skinners, and professional hunters knows the African bush like the back of their hand and is dedicated to helping each client pursue the perfect trophy. Our goal is simple: to make your safari thrilling, authentic, and unforgettable.
A modern safari is about more than just the hunt. It’s the experience of being truly part of the African bush. It’s exploring, it’s witnessing wildlife up close in its natural habitat, and spending evenings around the fire sharing stories and laughter with fellow adventurers. The thrill of the hunt is unforgettable, but what stays with you the longest are the connections you make – with the people you meet, the land you explore, and the wildlife you respect.
At Stirling Safaris, age class and trophy quality are always top priority – a given when hunting across our expansive, free-range territories. Equally important is the positive impact we make on conservation, helping to safeguard Africa’s diverse wildlife for the future.
Come experience the raw beauty of the Kalahari and the adventure of true African hunting – whether you’re traveling alone, with friends, or as a family. We love welcoming young hunters and being able to teach the next generation the true value of hunting and conservation. Nothing beats seeing families come together for the adventure, whether they’re observing or joining in as first-time hunters.
We look forward to pursuing incredible trophies together and enjoying evenings around the campfire with you.
A Glimpse into What We Offer at Stirling Safaris
What We Offer

Plains Game Hunting
The phrase “African Plains Game” refers to all game species that are typically “non-dangerous” and covers animals from the 26-pound Steenbok to the 2,000+ pound giant Eland, and many more.

Plains game hunting attracts more hunters to Africa each year than the “Big Five” combined. You can book an exciting plains game hunting safari in South Africa for much less than the average elk hunt in the western United States.
These hunts take place across diverse terrains, ranging from dense savannas to plateaus, with expansive grasslands in between with each area presenting its own type of wildlife and unique challenges for the hunter.
South-Africa is the ideal destination for these hunts, offering a wide variety of huntable species, offering something for everybody with over 30 plains game antelope species, carnivores and other creatures that can be hunted.
It is a great choice for family or group hunts, offering a chance to connect with nature, family, and friends.

Big Five & Dangerous Seven Hunting
Traditionally, hunting dangerous game has been the realm of African hunting legends such as Peter Capstick, Theodore Roosevelt and Frederik Selous. However, in modern times, it has become more accessible to hunters.

South Africa presents one of the world’s premier destinations for dangerous game hunting, offering a thrilling experience for the discerning hunter. If you crave adrenaline pumping adventures and are ready to push your hunting skills to the limit, then hunting Africa’s most dangerous creatures is an experience you won’t want to miss.
Dangerous game typically includes the “Big 7” – Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Hippo, and Crocodile. Successfully hunting these iconic animals is seen as the ultimate achievement and a significant milestone in any hunter’s career.
Each of these animals poses unique challenges and pursuing them demands specialized skills, as they are quick to charge when approached. Chasing an animal that can swiftly turn the tables and make you the target is the ultimate test for those seeking the peak of hunting challenges.
Preparation is critical – selecting the right rifle, caliber, and bullet can be the difference between a successful hunt and a costly, uneventful trip through the bushveld. In the case of dangerous game, using the correct rifle can be a matter of life and death. Being well-prepared and knowing how to handle your weapon is crucial for a successful hunt.

Wing Shooting
South Africa offers a remarkable variety for bird hunters. Wing shooting is a real treat and can easily be incorporated into your safari, with a morning or evening dedicated to experiencing the incredible bird hunting available.

Don’t hesitate to include this in your safari plans!
These hunts are typically done either as a driven shoot or in the classic “walk-up” style.
At our main camp in the Kalahari region, some of the more commonly hunted upland birds include guineafowl, francolin, dove, and sand grouse.
The best months for wing shooting are June, July, and August, which align with South Africa’s winter and also coincide with peak safari season for plains game and big game hunters.
